I was feeling spiritual today…and philosophical…and artistic. So here’s a little poem I wrote up back in Easter. For your soul, mind, and your entertainment, the Elephant’s Conscience is proud to present: Uncertain.
Yours,
-The Elephant’s Conscience
If the last shall be first and the first shall be last,
What happens to those in the middle?
What is their reward,
For living in this world, riddled,
In sadness and pain?
Tell me: what’s the average man, neither heathen nor saint,
Soul colored shades of gray,
Stand to gain,
At the end of days?
Does God grade on an A to F scale?
Is it pass or fail,
To decide if you go to Hell?
Hail Mary, I’ve fallen too often,
When my will has been softened.
Then I start to worry and stress,
Swear to God I’ve tried my best.
But on Earth my best isn’t always good enough,
It’s all so tough,
Your morals can’t help but bend.
I think that I’ve been good but,
In the end,
I can only hope I’ll make the cut.
